A low-maintenance and portable sanitary napkin vending machine solves the grave problems of emergency access, high-school drop-outs rates, embarrassment and affordability for a huge population.
In view of the stigma and social taboo associated with sanitary napkins, majority of the female population who are passing the age of menarche, feel embarrassed and hesitate to go to the commonly known, manned and often crowded conventional/medicine outlets for the sanitary napkins, resulting in 14% of women suffering from menstrual infections, including white discharge (leucorrhoea), itching/burning, ovaries swelling and frequent urination. HLL Lifecare aims to advocate hygienic practices through accessible and affordable sanitary napkins with Vendigo, a unique vending machine. The machine dispenses “Happy Days” sanitary napkins manufactured by HLL. Often installed in female washrooms, these vending machines aim to offer a behavioral change among women and girls, especially from low-income segments (in slums/low-income schools). Weighing only 14 kg, a total of 78 napkins (26 packs of 3s) can be stored in one go.
To provide round-the-clock quality sanitary napkins, HLL introduces a novel way & solution by installing state of the art “Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine”. This machine not only provides the anytime availability and accessibility of sanitary napkins by also reduces the interaction while purchasing it. As a two-selection machine, it can be customized for any product (like sanitary napkins, condoms, contraceptive pills etc.) easily. Easy data (sales, cash collected etc.) retrieval, electronically (through USB port) eliminates manual errors in data collection and easy data-transfer to the backend-system for quick report generation.
The machine provides immediate access to napkins to meet the menstrual emergencies in schools, workplace, slum communities etc. and allows women to get rid of the embarrassment/shyness involved in asking for napkins in local crowded general stores. Apart from minimizing absenteeism in offices/schools/colleges, it dispenses just the right number, 3, in one go.
The machines dispense a pack of three ‘Happy Days’ brand napkins for Rs. 10, which is much lower than other napkins in the market.
