CUBICLE- The waste plastic brick making machine converts waste plastic dumped in landfills, to construction bricks in a pollution free process. Thus doing away with this menace, called plastic, in a feasible and practical manner, rather than vouching for its ban.

Industries is designing an innovative ‘plastic brick making machinery’- CUBICLE. This furnace transforms plastic waste into useful paving bricks. The waste plastic - aggregate brick is stronger and more durable than the existing interlocking bricks. A compact and airtight machine, CUBICLE ensures a pollution free process. The machine is made pollution free by the process of pyrolysis. As plastic is manufactured from petroleum products, the fumes generated during melting would be petrol. These fumes are condensed to obtain liquid fuel thereby avoiding pollution.
The machine can be easily transported, hence eliminating the need of a centralized system. A de-centralized system is better as it avoids the need for transportation of low-density plastic which is not economical. Since waste plastic is used as raw material for the pavement bricks, expenses are greatly reduced. They can be used in damp areas too. Beside being a solution to the ever increasing problem of plastic waste, it also provides employment opportunities. This brick-making machinery could be sold to the local governing bodies to tackle the plastic waste challenge in each city.

The innovation

THE INNOVATION

It is known that 1 kg of plastic can pack 1000 kg of groceries, but 50 kg of paper would be needed to do the same imperfectly. Proper utilization of plastic waste is by far a better solution than banning plastic because the most common substitute would be using paper, which is a myopic perception. More paper means more cutting of trees which would degrade our environment. A machine that could transform futile plastic into useful paving bricks will help clear the landfills and would be a step forward in creating zero-waste cities.

Environmental Impact

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Dumping grounds are a common sight in almost every major city. These landfills that create more pollution, diseases and hazards could be cleared.

SOCIAL IMPACT

A demand would be created for all grades of low-density plastic waste.
