About The Grant

The STEP Scheme aims to provide skills that give employability to women and to provide competencies and skill that enable women to become self-employed/entrepreneurs. The Scheme is intended to benefit women who are in the age group of 16 years and above across the country. The grant under the Scheme is given to an institution/ organization including NGOs directly and not the States/ UTs.

There is no timeline for this Project, however, the proposals are evaluated at the beginning of the financial year.

Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, Women & Gender , Agriculture , Commodities, Fisheries, Food Processing, Livestock , Nutrition. The target group is women.

Grant/Award Information

There is no ceiling for this grant-in-aid. The number of beneficiaries may vary from 200 to 10000 depending upon the nature of the project and capacity of the organisation.

Eligibility Criteria

Non-profit organizations registered with Niti Aayog. NABARD approved norms will be made applicable to the project to be sanctioned.

About The Organisation

The Department of Women and Child Development, Government of India, came into existence as a separate Ministry with effect from 30th January, 2006, earlier since 1985 it was a Department under the Ministry of Human Resources Development.

The Ministry was constituted with the prime intention of addressing gaps in State action for women and children for promoting inter-Ministerial and inter-sectoral convergence to create gender equitable and child-centred legislation, policies and programmes.
